Welcome to Mendip Business Against Crime

This site is for the Mendip Business Crime Reduction Partnerships (BCRPs).
This is a group made up from the Chairs and Vice Chairs of the participating Mendip BCRP towns, Frome, Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet and Street. The group's role is to share best practice and engage with the relevant authorities at a District level. It does not, and cannot, interfere in the day to day running of any group although the groups share the same constitution.

To ensure that BCRPs operate to high standards Action Against Business Crime (AABC) has been replaced by Association of Business Crime Partnerships Limited (ABCP) that was created following a joint board meeting between AABC and Association of Town Centre Managers on the 3rd June 2010. The new organisation has the support of both the Home Office and ACPO business crime. Business Crime Partnerships Limited (ABCP) now manages the Safer Business Award, which has been designed with help from the Information Commissioner to ensure that partnerships operate legally and in accordance with the Data Protection Act and data protection principles. The Safer Socialising Award to provide partnerships with a system for rewarding licensed premises who can demonstrate good standards of management.

Each Mendip town has a BCRP accredited the the Safer Business Award by Action Against Business Crime. These groups perform a valuable function as part of local community efforts to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour which effects businesses, their staff, customers and the community. Their work is now recognised by police, community safety and CDRPs as providing a valuable source of information and demonstrating practical steps to identify offenders and anti-social elements and to work together to manage their behaviour more effectively.

We wish to acknowledge the former support of AABC in providing a strong national supporting organisation for developing our BCRPs ensuring there are firm links between business, CDRPs, police and other relevant local and regional agencies. We are very grateful to Mendip Housing for the Community Grant that helped with the development of this site.
